DENVER, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- David Newhan's go-ahead RBI triple Sunday helped the Houston Astros register a 7-5 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Newhan was batting for reliever and winning pitcher Doug Brocail (7-5) with one out in the top of the eighth inning.

Jose Castillo led a 12-hit attack with three hits and two RBI. Mark Loretta had three hits and one RBI, and two others knocked in one run for the Astros, who have won 10 of their last 11 games to remain in the National League wild-card picture.

They start a seven-game home stand Monday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Colorado's Brad Hawpe had two hits, one a three-run sixth-inning homer. Matt Holiday hit a two-run third-inning double, while Garrett Atkins added two hits for the Rockies, who have dropped six of their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Taylor Buchholz (6-5).
