KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Cliff Lee surrendered one run in 7 1/3 innings Sunday and became the majors' first 21-game winner this season when Cleveland topped Kansas City 3-1.
Lee (21-2) walked one batter, fanned five and threw 75 of his 104 pitches for strikes in hi fourth victory over Kansas City this season. The earned run he gave up scored on Alberto Callaspo's sixth-inning single.
Jensen Lewis, the last of four Cleveland pitchers, earned his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.
Victor Martinez had two hits and knocked in all three runs for the Indians, who have won four out of their last six contests.
Jose Guillen and Mark Teahen had two hits apiece for the Royals, who lost twice in the three-game series and have split their last 10 games.
Losing pitcher Zack Greinke (10-10) allowed three earned runs and five hits in six innings with two walks and eight strikeouts.
