CINCINNATI, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Jolbert Cabrera's one-out RBI single in the ninth inning Sunday capped a three-run rally and boosted Cincinnati to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs.

The game-winning rally against Cubs closer and losing pitcher Kerry Wood (4-4) was aided by an error by Chicago center fielder Jim Edmonds and a two-run single by pinch-hitter Chris Dickerson, whose bouncer glanced off the glove of shortstop Ronny Cedeno.

Cincinnati faced a 3-1 deficit when the bottom of the ninth started, and Cabrera's game-winner was the only solid hit.

Edwin Encarnacion had two of the five hits for the Reds, who have split their last 10 games.

The winning pitcher was closer Francisco Cordero (5-4).

Chicago got one RBI each from Cedeno and Mike Fontenot, and one run scored on Geovany Soto's non-RBI, double-play groundout in the fourth.

After Milwaukee's 10-1 loss to San Diego, the National League Central-leading Cubs maintained their 3 1/2-game lead over the Brewers.
