COL FB: Arizona State 41, Stanford 17

TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Rudy Carpenter completed 27 of 36 passes for 345 yards and three touchdowns Saturday, leading No. 14 Arizona State past Stanford 41-17.

The Sun Devils (2-0, 1-0 Pac-10) took a 27-17 lead into the fourth quarter, and then put the game on ice with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Dimitri Nance rushed for 75 yards rushing and a touchdown and Keegan Herring picked up 59 yards rushing and scored once TD for Arizona State.

Tavita Pritchard hit on 11-of-18 passes for 97 yards for Stanford (1-1, 1-1), which got 67 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Toby Gerhart.
