COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Guillermo Barros Schelotto had a goal and two assists Saturday when the Columbus Crew beat New England 4-0 to extend their lead atop the MLS Western Conference.
The Crew (12-6-4) won its fourth straight, handing New England its first loss in five games. Columbus extended its lead over second place New England (11-6-5) to five points.
Schelotto scored in the 40th minute and then got an assist on Andy Iro's first goal of the season late in the first half. He got his second assist of the night on Jason Garey's goal in the 67th minute.
Garey scored again in stoppage time.
