ST. LOUIS, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols and Felipe Lopez both had two RBI Saturday to boost the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-3 win over the Florida Marlins.

Pujols' 31st homer this season was a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning, while Lopez hit a fourth-inning RBI single and an eighth-inning sacrifice fly.

Ryan Ludwick had two of the six hits for the Cardinals, who had lost six of their previous seven games.

Winning pitcher Todd Wellemeyer (12-6) yielded three earned runs and five hits in eight innings with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Closer Ryan Franklin earned his 15th save by retiring the side in order in the ninth.

Florida's Dan Uggla launched a two-run fourth-inning homer. Josh Willingham hit a solo shot in the third, while both Hanley Ramirez and Jorge Cantu had one hit each for the Marlins, who had won two in a row.

The losing pitcher was starter Scott Olsen (6-10).
