LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe allowed two hits over eight innings Friday and Andre Ethier drove in five runs to bring the Los Angeles Dodgers a 7-0 win over Arizona.

The victory to open the crucial series was the Dodgers' sixth in a row and allowed them to move within a half game of Arizona for the lead in the NL West. Colorado inched to within five games of the top spot with a 5-3 win over Houston Friday.

Lowe (12-11) gave up a single to Conor Jackson in the fourth and an infield hit to Chris Young in the fifth. He walked two and struck out four.

Chan Ho Park worked the ninth in a non-save situation.

The Diamondbacks did not advance a runner past first base.

Ethier hit a solo homer in the first, his 20th of the year, and singled home two more runs in the second. A ground-rule double by Ethier produced a run in the fourth and he had another RBI double in the sixth. He wound up with half of the Dodgers' 10 hits.

The loss went to Dan Haren (14-8), who allowed five runs on six hits in four innings.
