KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- David DeJesus' three hits and two RBI Saturday led the Kansas City Royals to a 3-1 victory against Cleveland.
DeJesus drove in two runs with a second-inning single. Esteban German hit a second-inning RBI single and Mark Teahen added two hits for the Royals, winners of four of their last five contests.
Winning pitcher Gil Meche (11-10) surrendered an earned and just three hits in seven innings with two walks and 10 strikeouts.
Closer Joakim Soria earned his 35th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Cleveland scored its only run on Ryan Garko's fifth-inning sacrifice fly.
Shin-Soo Choo had two of his team's three hits and extended his hitting streak to games for the Indians, whose 10-game road winning streak ended.
Losing pitcher Zach Jackson (0-2) gave up three earned runs and nine hits in seven innings.
