CINCINNATI, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Alfonso Soriano hit three homers and knocked in five runs Saturday, keying the Chicago Cubs' 14-9 win over Cincinnati.
Soriano hit solo shots in the top of the third and fifth innings, and his three-run sixth-inning blast helped the Cubs build an 11-1 lead through 7 ½ innings. In all, he had four hits.
Mark DeRosa's 20th homer this season was three-run shot in the seventh. Starting and winning pitcher Jason Marquis (10-8) hit a solo eighth-inning homer.
Derek Lee had four hits and three RBI for the NL Central-leading Cubs, who maintained a four-game lead over Milwaukee.
Cincinnati scored four runs in both the eighth and ninth innings. Jolbert Cabrera launched a ninth-inning grand slam and Paul Bako had two hits and two RBI.
Corey Patterson had one RBI, while three others had two hits for the Reds, losers of three of five.
The losing pitcher was starter Johnny Cueto (8-13) in his return from a right elbow strain.
