BALTIMORE, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- The first grand slam homer of Rajai Davis' career finished off an eight-run eighth inning Friday and helped the Oakland Athletics crush Baltimore 11-2.

Rains from Tropical Storm Hanna began falling midway through the contest, but the umpires allowed the game to be completed in the wet conditions.

Oakland ended a four-game losing streak, scoring its 11 runs on just seven hits. The only hit in the big eighth inning was the home run by Davis.

Dallas Braden (5-3) allowed two runs over five innings to get the win.

The loss went to rookie Chris Waters (2-2), who was touched for three runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Oakland had only a 3-2 lead going into the eighth, but Baltimore relievers Brian Bass, Brian Burres and Kam Mickolio combined to walk six batters and hit another to account for four runs.

That brought up Davis, who had entered the game as a pinch-runner earlier in the inning, and he homered to left off Mickolio.
