CHICAGO, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A pair of two-run homers by Juan Uribe Friday sparked a 15-hit attack and carried the Chicago White Sox to a 10-2 battering of the Los Angeles Angels.

Chicago remained 1 ½ games in front of Minnesota in the AL Central race.

Despite the setback, the Angels' magic number for clinching the AL West title was reduced to five when the Texas Rangers fell to Boston.

Uribe hit his first home run in the second off losing pitcher Dustin Moseley (1-4), giving the White Sox a 4-0 lead. He hit another in the third to make it 7-0.

Mark Buehrle (12-11) got the win by giving up three hits and striking out seven in six scoreless innings.

With the game in hand, six Chicago starters were removed from the contest in the late innings.
