KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- David DeJesus and Mike Aviles combined for six of Kansas City's 14 hits Thursday and the Royals completed a doubleheader sweep with a 9-6 win over Oakland.

Kansas City took the first game in 10 innings 5-4 after rain had forced postponement of Wednesday's scheduled contest.

The two victories allowed the Royals to put together a three-game winning streak. By capturing the first game of the doubleheader, Kansas City won back-to-back games for the first time in a month.

Jose Guillen singled in DeJesus to kick off a four-run first inning in the second game and the Royals tacked on three more in the fourth with both Aviles and Guillen getting triples in the frame.

Starter Kyle Davies (5-5) lasted five innings to get the win. He allowed a run on three hits, but the Kansas City relief corps struggled to finish off the victory.

It took six relievers to do the job, with Ramon Ramirez coming on to record the last three outs and pick up his first save.

The loss went to Dan Meyer (0-4), who gave up nine hits and seven runs in just 3 1/3.
