FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The New York Jets unveiled the team's new $75 million training center Wednesday in northern New Jersey.
The facility in Florham Park opened six months ahead of schedule, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported. The two-story building features huge glass windows, an auditorium, a large weight room and two cafeterias surrounded by five practice fields.
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the architectural firm now working on the Freedom Tower in Lower Manhattan, designed the building.
Woody Johnson, the team's owner, called the building "the most beautiful training facility of its kind in the world." The Jets trained for three decades at Hofstra University on Long Island.
New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine attended the opening.
"This is the perfect opportunity for the Jets to stand up and proudly proclaim what we all know and love about them -- they really are Jersey guys," the governor said.
But Johnson made it clear that the team may train and play in New Jersey but will remain the New York Jets.
