PHOENIX, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Troy Glaus, Yadier Molina and Felipe Lopez went long off Yusmeiro Petit Tuesday in an 8-2 St. Louis win over fast-fading Arizona.

The Diamondbacks have now lost seven of nine and their lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West has slipped to 1 1/2 games. The Dodgers beat San Diego 8-4 Tuesday.

Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright (8-3) doubled in two runs to aid his cause. He struck out seven and allowed only one run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings to win his third straight decision.

The Cardinals ended their four-game losing streak.

David Eckstein and Adam Dunn drove in runs for Arizona, which left eight men on base.

Petit (3-4) gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings for the Cardinals, who are 5 1/2 games behind Milwaukee in the wild card race.
