SAN DIEGO, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Luis Rodriguez had three hits and one RBI Saturday to key the San Diego Padres' 9-4 win over Colorado.
Brian Giles, Will Venable and Edgar Gonzalez had two RBI each and Josh Geer knocked in one run for the Padres, who have won four of their last five games.
Geer (1-0), making his major league debut, surrendered two earned runs and five hits in five innings with three walks and five strikeouts.
Colorado's Clint Barmes had three hits and three RBI, while Willy Taveras had two hits and one RBI for the Rockies, who have dropped two of three.
Losing pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez (9-12) yielded six runs and two hits, but was done in by five walks in his 3 2/3 innings.
