OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Ryan Sweeney's ninth-inning RBI bunt Saturday lifted the Oakland Athletics past the Minnesota Twins 3-2.

The game-winner came after Twins' closer and losing pitcher Joe Nathan (0-1) committed a throwing error.

Jack Cust hit a fifth-inning solo homer off Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano and Bobby Crosby had two of the six hits for the Athletics, who have won three of their last four contests.

The winning pitcher after two scoreless innings was closer Huston Street (5-5).

Both Minnesota runs scored on Denard Span's fourth-inning homer off Oakland starter Dallas Braden.

Delmon Young had three of the seven hits for the Twins, who have lost two of three and six of eight overall. They dropped to 4-6 on their 14-game road trip.

Liriano gave up an earned run and five hits in seven innings with no walks and six strikeouts.

Braden was charged with two runs -- one earned -- and seven hits in six innings.
