
DETROIT, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Billy Butler capped a four-run sixth inning Saturday with a three-run homer to lead the Kansas City Royals' 13-3 rout of Detroit.
Butler also smacked a solo homer in the second and had three hits in Kansas City's 17-hit attack.
Ross Gload had three hits and one RBI, Mark Teahen had two hits, including a fifth-inning solo homer, and three others had two hits apiece for the Royals, who had lost 11 of their previous 12 games.
Winning pitcher Brandon Duckworth (2-0) gave up three earned runs and seven hits in six innings.
Detroit got two RBI from Magglio Ordonez and Jeff Larish had one RBI. Curtis Granderson had three hits and Matt Joyce two in the Tigers' fifth loss in their last six games.
Losing pitcher Kenny Rogers (9-12) surrendered six earned runs and eight hits in six innings.
