MLB: Houston 8, St. Louis 5

HOUSTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Geoff Blum, Hunter Pence and Ty Wigginton homered Saturday to lead the Houston Astros to their fourth straight win, 8-5 win over St. Louis.

Pence's three-run homer capped a six-run rally in the bottom of the first inning and Wigginton and Blum hit two-run shots. Pence and Blum finished with two hits and three RBI.

Seven Astros players had two hits each.

Winning pitcher Brian Moehler (10-5) gave up three earned runs and seven hits in six innings with one walk and six strikeouts.

Closer Jose Valverde earned his 36th save.

St. Louis' Albert Pujols had four hits, including a two-run seventh-inning homer. He got his 1,500th career hit in the third.

Rick Ankiel hit a three-run first-inning homer. With a second-inning single, Yadier Molina extended his hitting streak to 10 straight games for the Cardinals, who have lost six of 10.

The losing pitcher was starter Braden Looper (12-11).
