Havret holds lead at Scotland golf event

AUCHTERARDER, Scotland, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Gregory Havret's 4-under-par 69 Saturday maintained his one-stroke lead through 54 holes at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Auchterarder, Scotland.

The Frenchman made an eagle at the par-5 second and offset a second straight double bogey at the par-4 15th by closing with a birdie at the 18th hole.

His overall total, 10-under 208, was one shot better than England's Anthony Wall (65).

"It's going to be a big hunt tomorrow, especially with those Ryder Cup guys," Havret told reporters on the eve of a possible wire-to-wire victory. "I heard the weather will be bad, but we'll see. It's going to be quite open, for sure."

Wall's 8-under 65 is the tournament's best single-round score and included six consecutive birdies starting at the 11th.

Five players, including Ryder Cup hopefuls Soren Hansen (68) of Denmark and England's Lee Westwood (66), share third place at 9-under 210.
