HOUSTON, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Lance Berkman's one-out homer in the ninth inning Friday completed a late Houston rally and gave the Astros a 3-2 victory over St. Louis.

Houston won its third in a row after trailing by two going into the seventh.

David Newhan tied the game with a two-run shot in the seventh and Berkman won it with his homer to left-center on a 2-1 pitch from Russ Springer (2-1).

It was Berkman's 27th home run of the season.

Doug Brocail (6-5) got the win by working the top of the ninth. Houston starter Randy Wolf allowed a run on three hits over six innings.

Kyle Lohse worked eight innings for the Cardinals, giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out six.
