INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Former Purdue University football player Chijioke "Chukie" Nwokorie is scheduled to appear in Marion (Ind.) Superior Court for allegedly assaulting a friend.
The Indianapolis Star reported Friday that Nwokorie, 33, was charged this week with criminal deviate conduct and sexual battery stemming from an alleged Aug. 2 assault on a 24-year-old Philadelphia woman.
He was released after after posting $50,000 bond. He is to return Tuesday to Superior Court.
The report said a probable cause affidavit said the woman told police that Nwokorie assaulted her several times in his car and his home after the two had been drinking at a tavern.
Nwokorie recorded 88 tackles and 8 1/2 sacks at Purdue from 1995-98 and later played for three different NFL teams.
