PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Andy Bean shot a 6-under 66 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links Friday to share the lead in the suspended first round of the First Tee Open.

Poor weather caused three delays at Pebble Beach, one of two courses being used for the Champions Tour event, and play was eventually halted with 19 players yet to finish the first round.

Bean shared the lead with Hale Irwin, Fuzzy Zoeller, Loren Roberts and Chip Beck -- all of whom played the opening round at the Del Monte course.

Fred Funk, Phil Blackmar and Steve Thomas all shot 67 at Del Monte to tie for sixth.

Bean, who started play on the back nine, birdied three of his last four holes and recorded an eagle at the par-5 second.

Jay Haas, Joey Sindelar, Tom Kite and Mark McNulty were all at 68.
