NORTON, Mass., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Vijay Singh will have the lead in the FedEx Cup points race Friday at the start of the second of the four PGA Tour playoff events.

The first round of the Deutsche Bank Championship will be played Friday over the TPC of Boston course. It will be the second straight year the course has played host to the second leg of the playoffs. Phil Mickelson outlasted Tiger Woods in last year's event.

Singh won the opening playoff tournament last week and has 109,500 points. Sergio Garcia is second with 104,375, followed by Kevin Sutherland (101,950), Mickelson (101,856) and Justin Leonard (101,830).

With 11,000 points going to the winner, anyone in the top 25 going into the Deutsche Bank event has a chance of moving into the No. 1 slot this week.

Singh, Garcia and Sutherland will be paired for the first two rounds. They will have a morning tee time for Friday's first round. Mickelson, Leonard and Anthony Kim will be paired for an afternoon starting time.
