IRVINE, Texas, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Nick Folk kicked three field goals Thursday, two of them longer than 50 yards, in boosting the Dallas Cowboys past Minnesota 16-10.
Third-string Dallas quarterback Richard Bartel played the entire game, completing 28-of-41 passes for 233 yards.
The Cowboys' lone touchdown came on an 11-yard run by Tashard Choice that gave Dallas a 10-0 lead.
Maurice Hicks brought Minnesota within three points with a one-yard run early in the second quarter, but the Cowboys held on with a pair of 52-yard field goals from Folk in the second half.
After catching a pass for 35 yards in the first half, Dallas receiver Sam Hurd limped off with a sprained ankle. Hurd is part of the Cowboys' first-line receiving corps.
The game was the last exhibition contest scheduled for Texas Stadium. The Cowboys will move into a new home next year.
Minnesota (1-3) will open its season with a Monday night game at Green Bay. Dallas (2-2) will play its first game at Cleveland.
