ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Franklin Gutierrez's ninth inning RBI single Sunday led the Cleveland Indians to a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers and completed a three-game sweep.
Cleveland's seventh straight victory was not easy because Texas staged a two-run eighth-inning rally against reliever Juan Rincon, creating a 3-3 tie and setting the stage for Gutierrez's heroics.
Gutierrez and Jhonny Peralta had two hits and one RBI each, while Ryan Garko and Shin-Soo Choo had one RBI each.
Despite his third blown save chance this season, the winner was Rafael Betancourt (3-4).
Texas got two hits and one RBI from Milton Bradley and one RBI from two others. One Texas run in the eighth came when pinch hitter Ramon Vazquez drew a bases-loaded walk.
Bradley was the only player with more than one hit for the Rangers, who have dropped six of seven.
The losing pitcher was Eddie Guardado (3-3).
