SNOQUALMIE, Wash., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Scott Simpson shot a 6-under 66 Saturday to move to 11-under 133 and a two-stroke lead after 36 holes at the seniors Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Wash.

Simpson, who has just one Champions Tour win, had the 36-hole lead for the first time in his tour career.

David Edwards had a 5-under 67 to move into second place at 9-under 135. Mark Wiebe (69), who shared the lead after the first round with Simpson, is tied with Tom Kite (67) for third at 36.

Simpson, the 1987 U.S. Open champion, sank a 25-footer for birdie on 10 and came right back with an eight-foot birdie putt at the 11th to move into a logjam atop the leaderboard. He sank another long birdie putt at 13 to take the outright lead and also made birdies at 14 and 15.
