Olympic Medal: W 1600 Relay

BEIJING, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- The United States won the Olympic gold medal Saturday in the women's 1,600-meter relay.

Russia took the silver and Jamaica the bronze.

The American team was made up of Mary Wineberg, Allyson Felix, Monique Henderson and Sanya Richards.

Richards won a gold medal in the relay after finishing a disappointing fourth in the 400-meter run -- a race in which she was the heavy favorite.
