Olympic Medal: M C1 500 Canoeing

BEIJING, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Maxim Opalev of Russia won the Olympic gold medal Saturday in the men's canoe singles 500-meter race.

The silver went to David Cal of Spain in his second runner-up finish of the Games and the bronze was won by Iurii Cheban of Ukraine.
