WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Quavas Kirk scored just 24 seconds after entering as a substitute and Luciano Emilio had two assists Saturday when D.C. United won 3-0 over Colorado.
Joe Vide scored his first goal of the year in the 45th minute and Santino Quaranta doubled the lead in the 82nd -- both of those goals coming off assists from Emilio. Kirk finished the scoring in the 87th minute.
D.C. United goalie Louis Crayton, who was playing his third MLS game, made four saves for his second shutout and the team's third of the season.
D.C. United (10-10-1) improved to 8-3 at home and moved within six points of co-leaders Columbus and New England in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference.
Colorado (7-10-3) hasn't won in D.C. since 1999.
