KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Zack Miner gave up three hits in seven scoreless innings Saturday to lead the Detroit Tigers' 4-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.

The only run Miner needed scored on Edgar Renteria's sacrifice fly in the top of the second.

Miner (7-4) struck out just three of the 24 batters he faced before relievers Bobby Seay and Kyle Farnsworth completed the shutout.

Magglio Ordonez had two hits and one RBI. He hit one of three Detroit sacrifice files.

Miguel Cabrera hit a sixth-inning solo homer and Matt Joyce hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth in the Tigers' fourth win in their last five games.

Three players had one apiece hit for the Royals, who have lost 10 of 11.

Losing pitcher Kyle Davies (5-5) surrendered four earned runs and four hits in six innings with four walks and four strikeouts.
