Miguel Cabrera hit a sixth-inning solo homer and Matt Joyce hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth in the Tigers' fourth win in their last five games.
Three players had one apiece hit for the Royals, who have lost 10 of 11.
Losing pitcher Kyle Davies (5-5) surrendered four earned runs and four hits in six innings with four walks and four strikeouts.
