ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Cleveland right-hander Fausto Carmona allowed one unearned run in six innings Friday and the Indians won their fifth straight game, outlasting Texas 7-5.

Carmona (6-5) scattered six hits and struck out five batters. Jensen Lewis worked the ninth inning and picked up his fifth save.

Texas threatened in the ninth with a homer by Brandon Boggs and single by Michael Young but Lewis worked his way out of the jam.

Ryan Garko led the Indians' offense with a two-run double and Ben Francisco had three hits and an RBI.

Marlon Byrd smacked a three-run homer for the Rangers, who have dropped four of five games.

Losing pitcher Matt Harrison (5-3) gave up five runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
