PHOENIX, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Yusmeiro Petit gave up an earned run and two hits in six innings Saturday, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-1 rout of the Florida Marlins.
Five Arizona players had two hits. Chris Young had two RBI, including a fifth-inning solo homer, and Miguel Montero hit a solo shot in the eighth.
Stephen Drew had two hits and one RBI, and three others knocked in one run for the NL West-leading Diamondbacks, who stretched their lead over the LA Dodgers to 2 ½ games.
Petit evened his record at 3-3.
Florida's run scored on Hanley Ramirez's fourth-inning homer. Mike Jacobs and John Baker had the other hits for the Marlins, losers in six of their last 10 games.
Losing pitcher Chris Volstad (4-3) yielded four earned runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Despite the loss, the Marlins retained a mathematical chance to grab the NL wild-card berth.
