MLS: Chicago 1, Los Angeles 0

CARSON, Calif., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- John Thorrington scored for Chicago in the 65th minute Thursday, boosting the Fire to a 1-0 Major League Soccer win over the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Thorrington took a pass from Brian McBride and fired a shot just inside the far post. The goal was Thorrington's fifth this season.

Los Angeles has played nine straight matches without a victory.

Chicago is 10-6-5. Los Angeles fell to 6-9-6.
