MLB: Boston 8, Toronto 4

TORONTO, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Dustin Pedroia's two hits and three RBI Friday led the Boston Red Sox to an 8-4 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Pedroia started the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the second inning. He added a sacrifice fly in the fourth and an RBI single in the eighth.

Jacoby Ellsbury had two RBI. One of Jason Varitek's two hits was a solo sixth-inning homer and he also scored three times.

Coco Crisp added three hits and one RBI for the Red Sox, who have won three of four.

Winner Paul Byrd (8-11) surrendered four earned runs and six hits in six innings.

Toronto got Alex Rios' two-run first-inning homer. One of Lyle Overbay's two hits was a two-run fourth-inning homer.

Joe Inglett and John McDonald also had two hits for the Blue Jays, who have lost two of three.

The losing pitcher was starter Shaun Marcum (8-6).
