U.S. team wins World Cup soccer qualifer

GUATEMALA CITY, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Carlos Bocanegra's goal lifted the United States to a 1-0 win over Guatemala Wednesday in a World Cup soccer qualifying match.

Bocanegra scored in the 68th minute.

The U.S. team's next qualifier is scheduled Sept. 6 in Cuba. It will be the first time the American team has visited Cuba in 61 years.
