Top-seed Chakvetadze advances

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Anna Chakvetadze of Russia scored a straight-set win Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Pilot Pen Tennis event in New Haven, Conn.

Chakvetadze eliminated Australian Casey Dellacqua 6-4, 6-4.

Second-seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia came from behind to win 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) over unseeded Belarussian Olga Govortsova.

Amelie Mauresmo of France topped fifth-seeded Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6).

Frenchwoman Alize Cornet advanced with a 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-2. win over Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia,
