Russian Sumo wrestler dismissed

TOKYO, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A 20-year-old Russian sumo wrestler in Japan, arrested this week on suspicion of marijuana possession, was expelled Thursday from the sumo association.

The dismissal of Wakanoho, whose real name is Gagloev Soslan Aleksandrovich, is the first such by the Japanese group against an active wrestler, Kyodo news service reported.

Wakanoho, who has wrestled in the top division, was arrested Monday for allegedly possessing a Russian-made cigarette containing 0.368 grams of dried plant including cannabis, the report said.

Police found out about it after his lost wallet containing the alleged cigarette and alien registration card was returned to them, the report said.
