CHICAGO, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Ken Griffey Jr. belted one of four Chicago homers Wednesday in a 15-3 rout of the Seattle Mariners, the White Sox' fifth win in a row.
With the 609th homer in his career, 16th this season and first since joining the White Sox on July 31 in a trade with Cincinnati, Griffey joined Sammy Sosa in fifth place on major league baseball's all-time homer list.
It gave Chicago an 8-0 lead with two outs in the bottom of the second inning.
Alexei Ramirez and A.J. Pierzynski both hit three-run homers.
Nick Swisher had two hits, one a sixth inning solo shot.
Pierzynski had three hits and four White Sox players had two hits.
Winner Gavin Floyd (13-6) gave up three earned runs and six hits in six innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Seattle's Raul Ibanez hit an RBI single and a two-run homer.
Ichiro Suzuki had three hits and scored twice in the Mariners' sixth straight loss.
The losing pitcher was starter R.A. Dickey (3-8).
