BEIJING, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Zhao Yudiao scored on a deflection in the 58th minute Wednesday, putting China into the Olympic women's field hockey final with a 3-2 win over Germany.
The Chinese stunned the defending champions with a goal that was protested by the Germans. They claimed Zhao raised her stick so high to deflect the shot past goalkeeper Kristina Reynold that it constituted dangerous play.

A video replay was eventually used to determine the goal should stand.
The Netherlands defeated Argentina in the other semifinal 5-2 and will meet China Friday for the gold medal.
