TORONTO, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Adam Lind homered in the seventh and Marco Scutaro rapped an RBI double in the eighth Tuesday, lifting the Toronto Blue Jays to a 2-1 win over the N.Y. Yankees.
A.J .Burnett (16-9) allowed one run on five hits and a walk over eight innings while striking out 13 batters. B.J. Ryan threw a scoreless ninth to earn his 24th save.
The Blue Jays have won six of their last seven games to move one game behind the Yankees for third place in the AL East. Joe Inglett scored the run on Scutaro's double.
Jose Veras (3-2) suffered the loss as he gave up the deciding run in 1 1/3 innings. Johnny Damon scored the lone run for the Yankees, who have just three wins over their last 10 games. Bobby Abreu was the only Yankee with multiple hits -- a pair of doubles -- and drove in Damon.
