PINEHURST, N.C., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Robbie Fillmore shot a 5-under par 65 Tuesday to earn medalist honors after the stroke-play portion of the men's U.S. Amateur golf tournament.

Fillmore, 22, finished two rounds at six-under 134.

"The goal was to make match play," said Fillmore, a first-team all-Mountain West pick at Brigham Young. "To shoot 65 makes it that much better. I feel really good about the way I've been playing."

Fillmore spent two years (2004-2006) on a mission in Chile and did not play during that time.

Wesley Bryan, a first-round co-leader, shot a 69 Tuesday and took second in stroke play at four-under 136.

Dan Woltman (68) and Corey Nagy (67) share third place at 137.
