MLB: Oakland 3, Minnesota 2 (10 innings)

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Kirk Saarloos, called up from Triple-A before the game, picked up his first win Monday when the Oakland Athletics got a got a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.

Saarloos (1-0) pitched 3 2/3 scoreless frames with three strikeouts and three hits. Starter Justin Duchscherer left the game after 2 2/3 innings.

Kurt Suzuki drove in two runs and Mark Ellis hit a solo home run for Oakland.

Nick Blackburn (9-7) was the loser, allowing three runs on six hits over eight innings.

Minnesota's Joe Mauer was 3-for-4 with an RBI, raising his average to .325.
