MLB: Cincinnati 7, St. Louis 3

CINCINNATI, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Endinson Volquez hurled seven scoreless innings Sunday to lead Cincinnati's 7-3 win over St. Louis.

Volquez (15-5) gave up three hits and four walks with four strikeouts. He got 11 ground ball outs while throwing 58 of his 97 pitches for strikes.

One of Brandon Phillips' two hits was a three-run, seventh-inning homer. Four others had one RBI.

Chris Dickerson had three hits and Jay Bruce added two hits for the struggling Reds, who won for just the fourth time in their last 16 games.

St. Louis got two hits and one RBI from both Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker. Troy Glaus added the third RBI for the Cardinals, whose four-game winning streak ended.

Losing pitcher Kyle Lohse (13-6) surrendered three earned runs and seven hits in six innings.

He has won once in six starts after a 12-2 start this season.
