BEIJING, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Shelly-Ann Fraser and two teammates finished off an amazing weekend for Jamaica Sunday by sweeping the medals in the Olympic women's 100-meter dash.

Fraser dominated the women's 100 just as Osain Bolt of Jamaica did in winning the men's race Saturday.

She did not set a world record as Bolt did, but she led Jamaicans Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart across the finish line. Simpson and Stewart were both clocked in 10.98 -- a full two-tenths of a second behind Fraser -- so both received a silver medal.

That made it two golds and two silvers for Jamaica in events that took a total of 20 seconds to complete.

American Lauryn Williams, who had been the pre-Olympic favorite, wound up fourth.

Six track and field events were contested Sunday and the United States did not win a single medal.

The day began with Constantina Tomescu of Romania breaking away midway through the race and winning the women's marathon.

During the evening session, Primoz Kozmus of Slovenia captured the men's hammer throw, Guinara Galkina-Samitova of Russia won the women's steeplechase, Francoise Mbango Etone of Cameroon grabbed gold in the women's triple jump and Kenenisa Bekele of Ethopia was the winner in the men's 10,000.

Bernard Lagat, who carried the American flag in the Olympic opening ceremonies, failed to qualify for the final of the 1,500-meter run. Lagat had been a medal hopeful.
