It was only the third weightlifting event out of 12 contested thus far in the Olympics in which a Chinese athlete did not win a medal.

China has won eight golds and a silver with three more events to go.

Saturday's competition was the last women's weightlifting event of the Games. China won four of the seven gold medals available for the women. Russia did not win a gold, but managed two silvers and a bronze.
