CLEVELAND, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- John Lackey overcame two homers and LA scored two gift runs Saturday when the Angels edged the Cleveland Indians 4-3.
Two runs scored in the top of the third inning on Ben Francisco's throwing errors and a wild pitch by starting and losing pitcher Fausto Carmona.
Vladimir Guerrero drove in two runs and Garret Anderson had two of the six hits for the AL West-leading Angels, who averted a three-game losing streak. Anderson's third-inning single increased his hitting streak to 20 straight games.
Lackey (10-2) gave up three earned runs and six hits in six innings, including David Dellucci's solo homer in the bottom of the first and Ryan Garko's two-run shot in the fourth.
Closer Francisco Rodriguez earned his 47th save this season with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Three players had two hits for the Indians, who had won six of eight.
Carmona (5-5) surrendered four runs -- two earned -- and six hits in seven innings.
