Roddick gains Legg Mason quarters

WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Top-seed Andy Roddick moved on to the quarterfinals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington Thursday with a hard-fought win over Eduardo Schwank.

The U.S. star saved two match points before defeating the Argentine player 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).

Serbian Viktor Troicki eliminated Bobby Reynolds of the United States 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

Roddick and Troicki will meet in the quarters.

Indian Somdev Devvarman also advanced, ousting American Robert Kendrick 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5.

Russian Igor Kunitsyn was another winner, topping Italian Fabio Fognini 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).
