Report: Michael Vick's money mishandled

OMAHA, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Financial authorities say an Omaha woman has mismanaged the financial affairs of former NFL quarterback Michael Vick.

The Omaha World-Leader reported Friday that Mary Roy Wong, a lawyer in Vick's U.S. Bankruptcy Court case in Atlanta, was barred from the investment industry by Nebraska securities officials in 2004 for putting $147,000 from a client's annuity into her own bank account.

It added that Wong betrayed Vick's trust and engaged in numerous unauthorized financial transactions, often with entities in which she had an ownership interest or exercised managerial control.

"There is an ongoing investigation of Ms. Wong," said Sheila Cahill, attorney for the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance.

The report identified three former Nebraska football players Demorrio Williams, Josh Bullocks and his twin brother Daniel as having connections to Wong.

The three are on NFL rosters.

Williams and Vick were teammates for Atlanta before Vick began serving a 23-month prison term on a dog-fighting conviction.
