Another American boxer out of Olympics

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Khedafi Djelkhir of France eliminated another American boxer at the Olympics Friday, scoring a 9-7 decision over Raynell Williams in their featherweight bout.

Williams' exit leaves just four United States boxers remaining in the Games. One of those, welterweight Demetrius Andrade, has earned a quarterfinal berth.

Djelkhir used a second-round flurry to grind out the decision. He held a 4-1 points lead after the second round.

The powerful Cuban team, meanwhile, continued to roll toward a likely host of medals. Cuba won all three of its bouts Friday and has suffered only one loss during the opening week of the Olympics.

Featherweight Idel Torriente won an entertaining 10-9 decision over Enkhzorig Zorigtbaatar of Mongolia in the featherweight division, Yordenis Ugas was a 10-2 winner over Domenico Valentino of Italy in the lightweight class and bantamweight Yankiel Leon Alarcon got past Kanat Abutalipov of Kazakhstan 10-3.

Those winners reached the quarterfinals in their divisions.
