BEIJING, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Tina Thompson scored 17 points Friday and the United States pulled away in the second half for a 93-55 Olympic victory over Spain.
The Americans held only a five-point lead at halftime, but limited Spain to just 10 points in the third period while blowing the game open.
The United States is 4-0 in Group B with a game remaining against New Zealand. The Americans' quarterfinal opponent will likely come from a group that includes Belarus, South Korea and Latvia.
China and the Czech Republic both won Friday, setting up a meeting between those teams that will decide second place in Group B. China improved to 3-1 with a 69-48 victory over Mali and the Czech Republic has the same record thanks to a 90-59 decision over New Zealand.
In Group A, Australia and Russia remained unbeaten and will play on Sunday to determine first place. Australia won over Latvia 96-73 and Russia was a 74-64 winner over Brazil.
